‘Song of Myself’ has been composed by ‘Walt Whitman’. He was a great poet of America.
In this poem, the poet describes his patriotic feelings (देशभक्ति की भावना). He is an American. He thinks that we all are Americans. We should not hate one another. Here ‘I’ has two meanings. Firstly ‘I’ means Walt Whitman and secondly it means the people of America. Again he tells us about his soul (मन). He observes his soul (वह अपनी आत्मा के अंदर झांक कर देखते हैं). The soil and the air of America have formed his blood. The poet emphasizes (पर जोर देती है) equality. He declares that he will not have any connection with a religion and its saints and philosophers (संत और दार्शनिक). He is thirty seven years old yet he is healthy. He believes in nature because it is beyond (से ऊपर)religions and castes.
