★ Summary of “NOW THE LEAVES ARE FALLING FAST”

The poem ‘Now The Leaves Are Falling Fast’ has been composed by W.H. Auden. He was the famous poet of 20th century.

The poet tries to expose (Relieve, छोड़ना) the frustration (निराशा) that is naturally present in human life. The poet describes in this poem that the aspiration (Desire) that has not fulfilled (इक्षा कभी पूरी नहीं हुई) and the sense of loneliness in which every individual lives and dies (अकेलेपन की भावना में प्रत्येक मानव रहते हैं और अंततः उनका मरण होता है). The poet praises (प्रशंसा) the beauty of nature. We all are not optimistic (आशावादी). The poet further says that death is not changeable. Death does not distinguish (पहचान) between-the poor and the rich. He expresses (व्यक्त) the helpless (मजबूरी) of the human life.

Leaves are main organs of the trees. The Leaves come out in the trees and make the tree lively (रोचक). In autumn (पतझड़) the leaves being to fall fast and the trees become necked. This is the same case with the human beings. Man comes on the earth and growth fast. Time comes when the organs become useless. At last man passes away (गुजर जाते हैं). The poet has presented (प्रस्तुत) the life span (जीवनकाल) of man.

Hence, we can say that it is beautiful lyric.
