★ Summary of Snake :
“Snake” has been written by ‘D.H. Lawrence’. He is a famous poet, novelist, essayist and short story writer in the English literature.
In this poem, the poet describes an event. Once upon a time, the poet was very thirsty. While he was going to drink towards the tap, he saw a snake. It was coming out from fissure (दरार) of the earth wall (मिट्टी की दीवार). It was also thirsty. The poet welcomed the snake as a guest and began to watch the activities of the snake. Then he began to think that he should kill the snake. At the same time, he was taking interest in watching the snake. Soon after (थोड़े ही देर के बाद) the snake moved towards the tap and drank (पिया) water enough. Then the snake began to come back in the hole. The voice of his education told him to kill the snake but he did not want to kill it. At last the poet could not win his wrong thoughts. (अंत में कवि अपने गलत विचारों पर विजय प्राप्त नहीं कर सका) Then he picked up a piece of wood and threw it. Soon after the poet began to repent (पछताना),
